Although the creative work of poet and prose writer Omon Muxtor began in the late 50s, his first poetry collection, «Chorlar quyoshli yo‘llar», was published in 1966. Omon Muxtor was awarded the Writers' Union's annual literary prize in 1990 for his novel «Egilgan bosh». In honor of the writer's fiftieth birthday (1991), he was awarded the honorary title of «Honored Art Worker of Uzbekistan».
Poet and prose writer Omon Muxtor was born in Bukhara in 1941. After finishing secondary school, he worked for some time as a literary staff member in publishing houses, as an editor at the State Committee for Radio and Television of Uzbekistan, the «Uzbekfilm» film studio, and the Gafur Gulyam Publishing House for Literature and Art, and as the editor-in-chief of «Sharq yulduzi» magazine.
Additionally, poetry collections such as «Ohang» (1974), «Yog‘du» (1979), «Marvarid» (1985), and «Shiddat» (1990) are also the work of O. Muxtor.
The creator also produced collections of poems, fairy tales, and stories for children such as «Buvim ertak aytadi» (1971), «Kunlardan bir kun» (1985), and «Ming yildan so‘ng» (1991).
Omon Muxtor's novels «Tepalikdagi xaroba», «Ming bir qiyofa», and «Ko‘zgu oldidagi odam» together form the «To‘rt tomon qibla» trilogy. In recent years, the novels «Afu», «Ayollar mamlakati va saltanati», and «Aflotun» were published. This trilogy is written in a new style and is attracting the attention of readers and the literary community.
Omon Muxtor has published more than twenty books as a poet, short story writer, novella writer, and novelist. Including short story collections such as «Nigoh» (1968), «Qushlar va tushlar» (1971), «Shaharlik kelinchak» (1973), «Hayot darvozasi» (1978), «Buxorolik donishmand» (1973), and «Bolalikka sayohat» (1984), as well as novellas such as «Uchqur poyezdlar» (1981) and «Vazifa» (1988). At the same time, he created novels such as «Yillar shamoli» (1976), «Egilgan bosh» (1989), «Ming yildan so‘ng» (1991), «Ko‘zgu oldidagi odam» (1996), and «Ming bir qiyofa» (1994).
